Mansfield Pioneer Church Christmas service Tuesday

MANSFIELD — Once again the lanterns will be burning in the Pioneer Church as churchgoers attend the annual caroling service at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Mansfield’s restored log church.

Each year, the Mansfield Memories Committee sponsors the Christmas celebration reminiscent of the faith of the early settlers.

This service is considered a highlight of the Christmas season because of the uniqueness of the church and the simplicity of the event.

“Join together with family and friends from Mansfield and beyond as we celebrate ‘the reason for the season,’ the birth of our Lord Jesus,” Shirley Beck said.

Guest officiant will be the Rev. Ryan Flunker of Grace Presbyterian Church in Sagola. All are invited to attend. A social will take place after the service.

To reach Mansfield’s historical district and the log church: From M-69, about 4 miles east of Crystal Falls or about 6 miles west of Sagola, turn north onto the Mansfield Cut-off Road. Travel to the fork in the road at the mine pit and turn left onto Stream Road, then go another half-mile to the church site.

The event is free of charge; however, a free will offering will be taken to assist with upkeep of the building.
