The promise of God’s forgiveness

“What I mean is this: The law, introduced 430 years later, does not set aside the covenant previously established by God and thus do away with the promise.” Galatians 3:17

God is in the promise keeping business. Therefore, sins are forgiven and pardoned for those who have faith in Jesus and repent of their sins. Eternal life in a heavenly home with Jesus and the Father is ours through faith in Jesus that the Holy Spirit works in our life. His presence and provision, help and strength, peace, joy and hope are ours through faith in Jesus. Claim the promise in faith today.

Paul tells us that when the Sinai covenant, which was established by the giving of the law to Moses and through Moses to the people, it established the exodus people of Israel as the people of God. Yet, it did not nullify the covenant of faith already made with Abraham.

The law was established for their protection, for relationship with God and one another and as direction or the revealed will of God for them.

It was never to be a covenant where there was reliance on the law to save them or obedience and works righteousness to save them. It was always to point them to faith in God’s presence, provision and promise. God gave them food and water in the wilderness, wandering.

They were in the wilderness because they refused to go into the Land of Promised, which he promised to give to them. Instead of 35 days to the Promised Land, it took 40 years. It was their choice. It was also God’s promise deferred for lack of faith. This is the land that God promised to Abraham. These were the descendants of Abraham. However, through faith in Jesus –God’s promised one — we are all children of Abraham.

He believed God’s promise and it was credited to him as righteousness. We believe the promise of forgiveness in Christ’s cross and eternal life in His resurrection. His resurrection declares His presence with us.

In Jesus, we have life and salvation and all that we need from day to day. Let’s trust in Him today.
