Pikkujoulu, which translates to “Little Christmas,” is a party hosted in Finland before Christmas to brighten the long nights at this time of the year and put people in the Christmas mood. Parties start in November and continue until Christmas.

The official celebration of Christmas in Finland begins on Christmas Eve and is a holiday the entire family enjoys together. It is a time to relax in peace and quiet in an atmosphere of snowy twilight landscapes, candlelight and the fragrance of log fires and Christmas pies.
