NORWAY — The Norway-Vulcan Area Women’s Club will gather for its annual Christmas meeting at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, at Mike’s on Main in Norway.

Reservation may be made by calling Janice at 906-563-5725 by Monday.

Members of the Norway-Vulcan Area Women’s Club met Oct. 11 with Gayle Nicholson introducing guest speaker Tamara Juul of the Dickinson Community Foundation.

Juul explained the foundation was established in 1995 and manages funds for the Norway Area Community Foundation, the Crystal Falls Community Foundation and the Dickinson County Hospital Foundation.

This a permanent charitable endowment created for the communities. It has 105 charitable funds and scholarship funds for eight different high schools.

Donation of any size can be given to any of the funds, she explained, adding that scholarship funds also can be set up to honor a loved one or organization.

The mini-grant program that gives $250 grants is self-funded and is hosting a “Harry Potter” event Jan. 11 at Pine Grove Country Club. Cost is $50 to support the program.

During the business meeting, president Colleen Carlson acknowledged lunch committee chairwoman May Kay Ebeling, assisted by Gayle Nicholson and Alice Groeneveld, for their efforts.

The Giving Tree chairperson Suzanne Pollard reported that a Christmas tree with envelopes would be set up at the Northern Interstate Bank in Norway. Interested persons may pick up an envelope and return the gift to the bank.
