Parkinson group plans Christmas party potluck

KINGSFORD — The Parkinson Society of Dickinson County Area, a support group for Parkinson’s disease patients, caregivers, family and friends, will have its Christmas party potluck on Thursday, Dec. 14, at the First Presbyterian Church in Kingsford.

The gathering and social time begin at 10:30 a.m., with the business meeting at 11 a.m. and potluck to follow.

Those attending are asked to bring a dish to share, and a Christmas exchange gift not to exceed $10. Beverages will be provided.

New members and guests always are welcome.

The local Northern Lights YMCA is going to offer a Parkinson’s Cycling Pedal to Live Better class starting in January. Pedaling may change the life of someone with Parkinson’s disease. Information and registration materials will be available at this meeting. Information also is available at the YMCA on Crystal Lake Boulevard in Iron Mountain or by contacting Karen Pollock, health and wellness coordinator.

“Plan to join other Parkinson Pedalers at the Y in January,” said Pauline Hill, group facilitator. “It’s entirely free for Parkinson patients and their caregivers.”

For information about the support group and its activities, contact Hill at 906-774-0332.
