Lions club donates

The Niagara Lions Club recently presented a $500 donation to the LCpl Eric A. Palmisano Care Package Project. Bobbie Samme was a guest speaker at the Niagara Lions dinner meeting at the Red Brick Inn in Niagara, Wis. She talked about her late son, Eric, and how she and her husband, Herb, started the LCpl Eric A. Palmisano Care Package Project in his memory. Palmisano was serving with the U.S. Marines when he was killed in Iraq in 2006. The project collects items to create care packages that are sent to troops overseas. This year, they shipped 296 care packages. Since the project began, the couple with the help of many local volunteers have collected supplies and sent more than 3,600 packages to American troops in combat zones in the Middle East and Afghanistan. Glenn Lantagne, Niagara Lions first vice president, gave Samme the donation check to help carry on the project. Lantagne is the Niagara postmaster and a former U.S. Marine and Gulf War veteran.
