Trio Dolce to perform holiday concert at Bay College

ESCANABA — Bay College will host the return of the Marquette Symphony Orchestra Series with Trio Dolce at 7:30 p.m. Eastern time Tuesday, Dec. 12, in the Besse Center Theater.

The audience will experience the definition of “dolce” first-hand. A musical term that means “sweetly,” dolce perfectly describes the flute, violin and cello trio from Marquette.

The three women — Claudia Drosen on flute, Janis Peterson on violin and Anne Perket on cello, all section leaders in the Marquette Symphony — have known each other for many years and when they put their instrumental sounds together, dolce is the result.

The concert will take the listener on a musical journey through time from the Baroque music of Telemann, through the classical era with Haydn and on to music from the Romantic and modern time periods.

They will also play some works by lesser-known composers such as Ignazio Raimondi and Maria Millar. The evening will conclude with a few holiday hits like “Winter Wonderland” and “Silver Bells.”
