Norvulet Post 4581 makes donation

NORWAY — The Norvulet Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4581 of Norway voted to donate $50 toward the upcoming Feeding America event at the December meeting. After the decision, two individuals raised the amount by $70, for a total of $120.

The original Marine Corps League plan also has been financially supported by the Dickinson County Area Veterans Alliance and other local service groups, including American Legion Post 145 and the Hermansville Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 571.

The plan calls for food to be distributed from 9 a.m. to noon Friday, Jan. 12, at the Department of Public Works in Quinnesec. Veterans will be given priority until 11 a.m. Veterans will need to document their military service.

After 11 a.m., the general public will be served.

Those attending should bring their own bags and containers to carry food. All receiving food will be asked to sign a statement affirming they need the food they are given.

Post 4581 recently received a $2,000 grant from Home Depot for needed repairs and remodeling the post, to be done before May, according to the terms.
