Parkinson Society meets in February
IRON MOUNTAIN — The Parkinson Society of Dickinson County area will not meet in January. Members can meet informally if they wish Feb. 8 at the First Presbyterian Church in Kingsford.
The next meeting of the support group will be Thursday, March 15, at the First Presbyterian Church. This is one week later than normal due to unforeseen circumstances. The meeting will be at 11 a.m., with social gathering at 10 a.m. Those attending are welcome to bring their own sandwich; dessert and beverages will be provided. The program will be announced at a later date.
The Parkinson Society support group is open to all Parkinson’s patients, caregivers, family and friends. Research shows that people with Parkinson’s who actively participate in support groups and other patient advocacy programs have a better outlook, experience less depression and are 40 percent less likely to experience apathy compared to those who do not participate.
“So come out and join us,” said Pauline Hill, group facilitator. “We can help supply answers and information as needed.”
