St. Urho’s Day celebration slated

IRON MOUNTAIN — The Finnish American Raja Ryhma group will celebrate mythical hero St. Urho on Saturday, March 18, in the Antoine Room at the Recreation Lanes in Iron Mountain.

The meet and greet begins at noon, with a buffet meal served at 1 p.m.

Paula D will provide music for listening and dancing for the afternoon.

St. Urho will make an appearance and lead the Grand March with his Queen of the Vineyard.

They also will do some St. Urho trivia and give away prizes.

Members of the Raja Ryhma group share an interest in preserving their Finnish heritage and culture.

They welcome all to attend. “You do not have to be Finnish to join in the fun,” organizer Karen Wertanen said, “just enjoy being with Finns.”
