Wedding: Borga, Ritzman
NORWAY — Katie Jo Borga and Jerome Francis Ritzman were married on Sept. 23, 2017, in a small, intimate ceremony at the Borga family’s Camp Lukanooch in Hardwood.
The bride and groom were united under a beautiful arbor created and constructed by the groom. Officiating the outdoor ceremony on this warm September day was the Rev. David Johnson, pastor of Bethany Lutheran Church of Norway.
The bride is the daughter of Bill and Sally Borga of Norway. The groom is the son of Larry and Adele Ritzman of Brookfield, Wis.
Escorted by her father, the bride wore a white princess A-line dress and carried a white floral bouquet with the handkerchief her mom carried on her wedding day 39 years ago. Katie also borrowed her mother’s blue sapphire ring to wear on this special day. During the ceremony a special prayer was read by Katie and Jerome’s mothers.
Ring bearers were Dartagnan and Dace Mollick, nephews of the bride. Each decorated and carried the ring boxes that were presented to Katie and Jerome. Kimberly Mollick, sister of the bride, and Deana Ritzman, sister of the groom, were the special attendants.
The couple planted a small evergreen tree as together they poured soil from each of their childhood homes, a sign of their life together, united with family love and support. The pine tree will be planted at their home in Hebron (Fort Atkinson), Wis., where a wedding reception took place later in October.
Larry Ritzman provided music for the ceremony and evening festivities. Family friend Lori Dzik photographed the special occasion. Lennie Walters, uncle and godfather of the bride, prepared food for the wedding weekend.
The wedding weekend began when family and friends gathered at Solberg’s Restaurant on Friday evening. The group then caravanned to Camp Lukanooch. A bonfire, fireworks, travel campers, tents and fellowship topped off the wedding celebration.
Katie is a graduate of Michigan State University, where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in biosystems engineering. She is a sheriff’s deputy with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office in Wisconsin.
Jerome is a graduate of Marian University with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. He is operations manager at The Home Depot in Madison, Wis.
