Niagara Lions Club scholarships awarded

NIAGARA, Wis. — The Niagara Lions Club recently awarded a total of $2,000 in scholarships to four graduating Niagara High School seniors during the commencement program.

Recipients of the $500 scholarships included Sydney Weber, who received the Roy Eggen Memorial Lions Scholarship; Casey Antonissen, who received the Dwayne and Joyce Smith Memorial Lions Scholarship; Abigail Provencher, recipient of the Russell and Carol Sauld Memorial Lions Scholarship; and Cole Carlson, who received the Kerry Grippen Lions Club Scholarship.

Weber will major in human biology at University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, Antonissen will attend Northern Michigan University for mechanical engineering, Provencher will major in elementary education at UW-Green Bay, and Carlson will attend Fox Valley Technical College for aviation studies.

The Niagara Lions Club’s scholarship program began in 1986 and over the years has awarded nearly $45,000. The scholarships are funded through club projects, with additional financial support from the family of Dwayne and Joyce Smith.

The scholarships this year were administered by the Niagara Area Scholarship Foundation, with the selections made by school personnel according to criteria established by the Niagara Lions Club.
