Great Books Clubs to begin in September
IRON MOUNTAIN — The Dickinson County Great Books Club will begin its 2018-19 schedule at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10, in the all-purpose toom at Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain.
The book for this year is “The Civically Engaged Reader.” This anthology assembles more than 40 short, provocative and diverse readings that range across literature, philosophy and religion.
The 2018-19 readings are as follows:
— Sept. 10: Aristotle to Abraham Rodrigues Jr.;
— Oct. 8: Imitiaz Dharker to Adam Smith;
— Nov. 12: Alexis de Tocqueville to Robert Frost;
— Dec. 10: Mary Freeman to William James;
— Jan. 14: Jane Addams to Adam Davis;
— Feb. 11: Dave Eggers
— March 11: Jean-Jacques Rousseau to Anna Akhmatova;
— April 8: Charles Chesnutt to Toni Cade Bambara;
— May 13: William Carlos Williams to Nathaniel Hawthorne.

Attendees are asked to read the selections beforehand if they wish to participate in the discussion.
All meetings are the second Monday of each month. All interested persons are invited to participate in any one or all of the discussions.
