Bay West LIFE group set to meet Sept. 13
IRON MOUNTAIN — The Bay West LIFE group will present a program on “Paddling the Three ‘P’s” at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, at Bay College West in Iron Mountain.
Larry Zibell of Three Lakes, Wis. and John Roberts of Aurora, Wis. have a lifetime of experience canoeing on the Pike, the Popple and the Pine — Wisconsin’s three original designated Wild Rivers.
Zibell has been leading canoe trips on these rivers for more than 40 years, and Roberts has nearly 500 canoe trips down these three rivers. Every trip offers scenery and excitement, and now they will speak on that excitement with the group at Bay West college campus.
Roberts also currently shares his experiences on his Pine Popple Pike Facebook page.
With pictures, video and a wealth of experience, they will detail the experience of riding down these amazing rivers. Also, as a special feature, Roberts will include a summary of the drawdown of the Pine River Flowage, unique this year, and the many special opportunities to experience the Pine River in a new way.
Bay West LIFE is a group that believes in lifelong learning. They meet at 10 a.m. on the second Thursday of each month at the Bay West campus on North U.S. 2 in Iron Mountain. Coffee is on and everyone is welcome.
