Milwaukee Symphony plays in Menominee

MENOMINEE — The Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra will return to the Tri-Cities area at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, to fill the Blesch Auditorium in Menominee with music by some of the world’s greatest composers.

The MSO will perform a youth concert at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, at Menominee High School for middle school students from more than 20 regional schools.

With the theme “Romance and Fire,” the MSO’s 60-plus outstanding musicians, under the direction of maestro Yaniv Dinur, will perform Brahm’s “Symphony No. 2,” Debussy’s “Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun,” and Stravinsky’s Suite from “The Firebird.” The full range of the orchestra’s talents will be on display in these powerful compositions.

Following a long-held tradition at the Milwaukee Symphony’s appearances in Menominee, there will be a drawing at intermission to win a Waterford bowl. There also will be a drawing for a $100 Amazon card for those purchasing a youth ticket. Winners of both prizes must be present to win.

The public will see low prices, benefitting from patron support as well as the support of local businesses, civic organizations and charitable foundations. Individual tickets for the concert will be only $25. Student tickets for students in grade school through college will be $10. Discounted student tickets will be available at local outlets, along with general and patron tickets.

Tickets are available at the Marinette-Menominee Area Chamber of Commerce and Jack’s Fresh Market, all three locations in Marinette and Menominee. Tickets also can be obtained through the mail by sending an order to Symphony Tickets, 601 Marinette Ave., Marinette, WI 54143, along with a self-addressed stamped envelope. Tickets also are available at the door.

Those who wish to give an extra measure of support in addition to receiving tickets are invited to be patrons.
