Pumpkin decorating contest at the library

Crystal Jacklovitz, early literacy/elementary specialist at the Dickinson County Library, displays pumpkins patrons can “check out,” decorate and return for the library’s Most Valuable Pumpkin Decorating Contest.

IRON MOUNTAIN — Artists of all ages are encouraged to enter the Dickinson County Library’s Most Valuable Pumpkin Decorating Contest this Halloween season.

“Check out” a pumpkin at any branch, decorate it and then return it to the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain by 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26. Carved entries will not be accepted.

Pumpkins will be judged at the library’s Halloween Extravaganza starting at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, with winners announced at noon. Prizes will be awarded in four divisions: pre-school through first grade, second through fifth grade, sixth through eighth grade, and ninth grade through adult.

Pumpkin donors included Da Little Red Cottage in Vulcan.
