Daily Meditations: Persevere — Heb: 12:1-4

There is an interesting story told about Lew Kraft. He used to drive his horse, Paddy, from store to store, selling cheese products. As he did this, he talked to Paddy about his big dreams selling cheese.

But in spite of the long hours and hard work, Lew’s sales remained low and he got deeper in debt. Someone even told him that he had better quit.

Lew refused to give up and continued visiting stores and kept talking to his horse, Paddy, about his dreams.

Today, the multi-million-dollar Kraft Cheese Company stands as a monument to a man who persevered until his dream came true.

In the letter to the Hebrews, we are told to persevere in living our faith. We are even told that in our “struggle against sin, we have not yet resisted to the point of shedding blood.”

It is difficult to keep our motivation high when we become discouraged in doing what is right. We might not have a horse called Paddy to talk to, but the good Lord is always there, waiting to help us fulfill our dreams and the dreams the Lord has for us.

So the message is: don’t give up. As Christopher Morley reminds us, “Big shots are only little shots who kept on shooting.”

God bless.
