Benefit for Dr. Charles Newby planned March 23
IRON RIVER — Dr. Charles Newby, a chiropractor in Iron River who has treated thousands of individuals in the Midwest, is on the heart transplant list and fighting for his health.
He endured an extensive heart surgery in February 2018 to install a left ventricular assistive device in order to stabilize his life-threatening heart failure. He now is on the heart transplant list and relocated in order to be closer to Ann Arbor Health System.
To supplement the family’s medical costs and financial disruption, a health benefit is planned from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday, March 23, at the West Iron County Fire Hall.
The event will have a spaghetti dinner, bake sale, prize drawings and silent auction. Meal tickets are $10 for adults, $6 for children ages 6 to 10; children 5 and younger can eat for free.
Tickets can be purchased at the door; at Krist Oil in Iron River, Crystal Falls, and Caspian; Chris’s Hair Studio; Saigh Family Dental; and Northwoods Family Chiropractic.
Monetary donations can be sent to: CoVantage Credit Union, 303 N. Fourth Ave., Iron River, MI 49935. Checks can be made payable to Charles Newby.
Items to be donated for the drawing or silent auction can be dropped off at AmericInn in Iron River or by contacting Aren Newby at 906-284-3811 or Tess Sarafiny at 906-284-2010.
