Driver killed in collision with logging truck in Marinette County

MARINETTE, Wis. — The driver of a car was killed this morning in a head-on collision with an empty logging truck on Highway F in the town of Silver Cliff, said Marinette County Sheriff Jerry Sauve.

The collision occurred shortly before 8:30 a.m. when the driver of the eastbound car, believed to be a male in his mid-30s from Green Bay, Wis., crossed the centerline into the path of the westbound truck, Sauve said. The driver of the truck was not injured and there were no passengers in either vehicle.

The accident was just west of Highway C and marks the fourth traffic fatality in Marinette County this year.

Assisting sheriff’s deputies were the Silver Cliff and Lakewood fire departments, Silver Cliff Rescue Squad, the Wisconsin State Patrol, the Marinette County Highway Department and Coroner George Smith.
