Christesen joins NorthStar’s CF clinic as nurse practitioner

IRON RIVER – Julie Christesen, a family nurse practitioner, has joined the staff of NorthStar Health System. She previously worked at Marquette General Hospital.

Christesen has two degrees from Northern Michigan University – a bachelor of science in nursing – and a master of science in nursing-family nurse practitioner degree. She is board-certified by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) as a nurse practitioner.

In addition, she has professional certifications in basic life support, advanced cardiac life support and advanced burn life support. She is also a member of the Michigan Nurses Association.

Christesen was a registered nurse for 12 years, with 10 years as a staff nurse in the emergency room. Her favorite part of nursing has always been about the personal interaction not only with patients but also with their family members. She plans to carry this valuable aspect into her career as a nurse practitioner.

“I will enjoy getting to know my patients, thereby creating a relationship where setting goals for maximal health will be a joint effort,” she said.

Christesen was born and raised in the Upper Peninsula and graduated from Negaunee High School. She is married and has two children.

She will be providing care to patients at the NorthStar Crystal Falls Clinic and can be reached by calling (906) 875-4486.
