ManorCare opens MedBridge unit

KINGSFORD – The new MedBridge Unit has opened at ManorCare Health Services in Kingsford.

The primary focus of the unit is caring for post-hospital or post-acute patients with complex needs.

Based on ManorCare’s positive rehabilitation success, customer experience, professional level of employees and community demand, ManorCare’s parent company, HCR ManorCare, developed MedBridge.

“At ManorCare, we feel the best way home for patients is through our doors. The MedBridge unit is positioned to meet this need with clinical skills, rehabilitation sophistication and patient-focused activities, amenities and education that are unmatched by our competitors,” said Cheryl Bray, RN, MSN, administrator.

“When a patient comes to ManorCare’s MedBridge unit, we’re planning their discharge home from the moment of admission,” she added.

MedBridge offers medical and rehabilitation with an interdisciplinary team approach. Treatment plans are designed to maximize independent functioning, improve psychological, as well as physical, well-being and assist the patient in returning home.

The treatment team includes physical, occupational and speech therapy designed to address the patient’s impairments and prepare them to successfully transfer home.

The nursing team, supported by nutrition and activities, provides a broad range of services to support the complex needs of patients.

“We are pleased to introduce this one-of-a-kind service to the community,” Bray added. “There is nothing more satisfying to us than to see patients successfully return to the community. We encourage patients to stop by for a tour to really experience our facility and services.”
