Salvation Army donation

In keeping with years past, Florence Utilities made a holiday donation of $500 to a local chapter of the Salvation Army. Pictured is Karen Wertanen, Salvation Army representative accepting the donation from Jeff Forbes, energy services representative for Florence Utilities. “Helping our neighbors in the community is very important to us at the utility. We’re happy to have the opportunity to support an organization that provides services and resources to those who are in need,” said Forbes, Energy Services representative. The donation was made possible through community relations funding from the utility’s not-for-profit power supplier, WPPI Energy. The Florence County Salvation Army Service Extension Unit helps people in crisis by providing financial assistance for rent, utilities, emergency hotel lodging, transportation and more. According to Wertanen, 86 percent of donations collected by the extension unit stay local.
