Haehre joins Donna’s School of Dance staff

CECILIE HAEHRE

KINGSFORD — Donna’s School of Dance has added Cecilie B. Haehre as a full-time employee starting this month.

Haehre will be involved with a number of activities at the school, including pre-tot ballet, hip-hop, lyrical, private lessons, adult classes and yoga.

She has been dancing ballet and jazz since age 7, and hip-hop and modern since she was 12. She was assistant manager at the Trude Mossin Dance Studio in Norway for four years.

Haehre earned a bachelor of arts degree in dance with pedagogy from The Norwegian University of Dance in 2009. She received a bachelor’s degree in business management from Northern Michigan University in December.

This month, she will start her 200-hour certified yoga teacher training at Tulivesi Yoga in Marquette.

Haehre competed in Norway with the hip-hop Akropolis Kick Dance Crew, taking gold and silver at the Norwegian Championships, and silver and bronze respectively at the European Championships in Glasgow, Scotland, and Bonn, Germany. Akropolis Kick Dance Crew also took ninth place at the largest global cheer and dance competition, Dance Worlds in Orlando, Fla.

While studying at NMU, Haehre has served as vice-president and coach of the NMU hip-hop dance crew, which has performed in a large variety of venues and soon will head to Minnesota for its first competition.

She has volunteered at Donna’s School of Dance, 1075 Pyle Drive in Kingsford, for the past 1 1/2 years and is well-liked among students and parents, according to the studio.
