More than $20,000 raised for MDA

IRON RIVER — More than 70 Krist Oil locations in the upper Michigan and Wisconsin area teamed up with customers to raise $20,808 during the 35th annual MDA Shamrocks program to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

“Each year, Krist Oil employees and customers open their hearts to make a big difference through the simple act of selling or purchasing an MDA Shamrock,” said special projects coordinator Adri Atanasoff.

“We’re grateful to everyone who participated and we’re honored to do our part in support of MDA’s mission to help local families affected by these muscle-debilitating diseases live longer and grow stronger,” Atanasoff added.

From Feb. 6 to March 19, Krist Oil locations participated in the St. Patrick’s Day fundraising program in which customers and associates purchased an MDA Shamrock at check-out for a $1, $5 or a larger contribution.

Since first teaming up with MDA in 2011, this program at Krist has raised more than $123,604.

Funds raised make summer camp possible for 45 area kids at Pilgrim Center in Green Bay, Wis. There is no cost to their families to attend.
