Verso’s Quinnesec mill has year without injury

QUINNESEC — Verso Corp.’s Quinnesec mill celebrated one full year of work without an Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) recordable injury on March 29.

“Everyone at our mill is committed to working safely every day, and we’re incredibly proud of this milestone achievement,” said Quinnesec mill manager Mike Glodowski. “We have a very strong safety culture driven by all 430 of our members. Working without an injury for 365 days in a row and achieving an OSHA incident rate of zero is a pretty special achievement, but that’s just a number. The fact that everyone went home safely for an entire year is reason to celebrate.”

Contributing to the mill’s safety record is Verso’s behavior-based safety program, in which employees observe each other completing work tasks and provide immediate safety feedback.

Officials added that pre-task safety checklists and near-miss reporting have also contributed to continuous safety improvement.
