Johnson promoted to assistant dean at Wayne State University

IRON RIVER — Iron River native Paul W. Johnson has been promoted to assistant dean at Wayne State University.

Prior to this promotion, he was the graduate and certification officer at Wayne State.

He is the son of Rose M. Johnson of Iron River and the late William J. Johnson.

Before making the move to Wayne State University, Johnson was named the director of technology for West Iron County Schools in 1997. He later served as principal of Bates Elementary School prior to the district moving out of the building.

Johnson was then appointed principal at Stambaugh Elementary School — a position he held until he resigned in 2005.

In 2005, he was awarded a position at Wayne State University.

In addition, he was the recipient of the 2015 Academic Award from Wayne State University.

Johnson graduated in 1991 from West Iron County High School.

He went on and graduated summa cum laude from Northern Michigan University in 1995. He earned a bachelor’s degree in education while at NMU.

Johnson received his master’s degree in education administration and supervision from NMU in 2001 and graduated with honors– summa cum laude.
