GEI acquires Inland Seas Engineering
TRAVERSE CITY — GEI Consultants Inc., a geotechnical, environmental, water resources, ecological science and engineering firms, announced the acquisition of Inland Seas Engineering, a Traverse City-based engineering consulting firm.
GEI Consultants has offices locally at 990 Lalley Road in Iron River and in Suite 110 in 617 N. Stephenson Ave. in Iron Mountain.
The merger of the two firms will strengthen GEI’s operations in Traverse City and northern Michigan and will provide the market with a full range of engineering, environmental, and natural resources services, company officials said.
Becky Smits founded ISE in 1993 and has grown the firm to provide services to clients across the state of Michigan and beyond.
“We felt the opportunity to join GEI was in the best interest of our employees and clients. This merger brings immediate benefit to our existing clients through new services and will allow our staff to service additional clients in our community,” Smits said.
With the acquisition of ISE in Traverse City, GEI now has offices with engineering and environmental services throughout Michigan. In addition to the two offices, they also are located in Lansing, Ann Arbor, Grand Rapids and Marquette.
“We could not be more pleased to add the staff and capabilities of ISE to our company, their commitment to technical excellence and client service is a perfect match for the GEI family,” said GEI President Raymond Hart, P.E.
The transaction closed on Oct. 27.
