IRON MOUNTAIN — A ribbon-cutting ceremony recently took place at Westman Precision Firearms in Iron Mountain, attended by the owners and ambassadors with the Dickinson Area Chamber Alliance.

The business is near the intersection of M-95 and U.S. 2 on Iron Mountain’s north side.

Westman Precision specializes in full-service gunsmithing along with the sale of firearms, ammunition and gear.

The business is owned by Tommy Westman of Quinnesec, and is family-run with his parents, Tom and Theresa Westman.

Tommy Westman is a native of Iron Mountain and attended high school in Pensacola, Fla.

After graduating from there, he attended Montgomery Community College’s National Rifle Association-affiliated gunsmithing program in Troy, N.C. After completing two full years, he graduated with an associate degree in gunsmithing.

During that time, he also received certified training as an M16/M4/AR15 armorer, AK RPK series armorer as well as a Smith & Wesson military and police armorer.

He said it has been his dream to return to his hometown and be able to provide quality service and custom-built firearms. He enjoys being close to family and having four seasons again.

Westman Precision offers the following services with his gunsmithing business: Barrel fitting and chambering, sight cuts and installation, trigger jobs, action work, mill/lathe work and completing parts kits as well as consignment options.

Westman also recently began parkerizing and in the future will be offering blueing as well as Cerakote options.
