Sawyer International’s DuRay named Airport Manager of the Year
MARQUETTE –Sawyer International Airport’s Duane DuRay has been named Airport Manager of the Year by the Michigan Association of Airport Executives.
DuRay received the award at the 66th MAAE annual fall conference.
DuRay has worked on projects for flights, safety and airport improvements, including runway rehabilitation, securing grants, adding the Minneapolis/St. Paul flight option and upgrading security. He largely was responsible for bringing in about $6 million in federal and state funding to the airport over the past year.
Sawyer International Airport handles more than 100,000 passengers yearly, with five daily flights to Chicago, Detroit and Minneapolis/St. Paul.
DuRay has been Sawyer airport manager since 2012, and previously was at Gogebic Iron County Airport.
