Gabbert, Roell awarded Klungness scholarships

KINGSFORD — Two seniors at Kingsford High School have been awarded the James A. and Verle A. Klungness Scholarships, according to an announcement by school officials.

Chloe Gabbert and Mikhal Roell received the awards, which cover complete academic tuition for each recipient during their four years at Albion College.

Albion selects four students from the Upper Peninsula each year to received this endowed scholarship.

The Klungness family established a scholarship fund to assist students from the U.P. to attend Albion, and there are 50 students who compete for the annual award.

“Kingsford High School is extremely proud of both Chloe and Mikhal for their outstanding accomplishments in the classroom that have led to them receiving this prestigious Klungness Scholarship to Albion College,” KHS principal Lyle Smithson said “Both Chloe and Mikhal are examples of young people who are being rewarded for their hard work, commitment, and dedication to their academics. Congratulations to both of them.”

Chloe is the daughter of Donald and Christine Gabbert of Kingsford and Mikhal is the son of Steve and Mary Jane Roell of Breitung Township.
