EAGLE RIVER, Wis. — Trees For Tomorrow, an accredited natural resources specialty school in Eagle River, has set its summer program series for 2017.

There’s something for all ages. TFT summer programs offer fun and unique experiences for the public with an opportunity to explore the northwoods, discover new interests and meet new friends.

“Our summer programs are a great way to connect with the local community,” said Melanie Stewart, Trees For Tomorrow summer program coordinator. “We’ve made some changes to the program this summer that we feel will better meet the needs of our participants.”

Programs run from June 20 through Aug. 10 and are conducted at the Trees For Tomorrow campus.

The summer program line-up includes:

— Evening Lecture Series, 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays, geared towards older children and adults. Local experts will spend an hour presenting on a variety of nature-themed topics including citizen science, Wisconsin carnivores, wilderness survival and Ojibway culture. The lecture series is held in the air-conditioned Education Hall and cost is $2 per person. Registration is not required.

— Family Nature Programs, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursday, designed for families or grand families with children ages 4 to 7. Kids and their grown-up spend the morning exploring the Northwoods together through hands-on activities, fun games, nature-inspired art projects and meeting live animals. Cost is $4 per person and registration is not required.

“These programs are a fun way to get children learning alongside their parents or grandparents,” said Stewart. “We’re excited to be able to offer them twice a week this summer.”

— Science & Earth Exploration for Kids (SEEK), 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays, a day-long program for kids ages 8 to 12. Each Wednesday through the summer, SEEK will dive into a different topic including wildlife, forestry, lakes and more.

Kids have the opportunity to get connected with the northwoods through outdoor discovery, hands-on experiments and interactive games. Participants will also take a day to go off campus to explore the National Forest. Cost is $35/child/program. Registration is required at least 48 hours in advance.
