IRON MOUNTAIN – “An Affair of the Arts” awaits Saturday in Iron Mountain’s City Park.

More than 40 artists from Wisconsin, Michigan and Illinois will be featured at the 50th annual Art For All juried show and sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. The event is sponsored by Dickinson County Council for the Arts.

Art For All began in 1967 behind the driving force of the late Magee Johnson, a champion of area arts.

“She was the brainchild for the show,” said Lana Lantz, co-chairperson of the event. “Locations have changed over the years – from Kingsford High School, Pine Mountain, Lake Antoine Park, Bay College and now City Park.”

As always, the event will offer many original works of arts, including painting, photography, glass, wood, fiber, metal and jewelry.

“Come find yourself a unique piece of art to take home,” Lantz said.

A hands-on craft area for children will be open from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m, which is being sponsored by 41 Lumber.

In addition, two authors will appear: Sonny Longtine, a noted U.P. writer, and Jessica Simon, who writes for children.

“Simon will provide story time for the kids,” Lantz said.

The show will include a silent auction, which provides for senior art students scholarships. This year’s recipient was Hannah Antonissen of Niagara, Wis., Lantz said.

Those attending also can win $50 to be spent at the show. Drawings will be at 11 a.m. and 1, 2 and 3 p.m. Winners must be present.

Musical performers will include Adam Hayes, Crystal Hogan, Unhushed Grace, Delaney Harris and Norway High School students Makenna Bruneau and Elizabeth Wicker.

Tadych’s Econo Foods of Iron Mountain will sell food on the grounds. They are roasting a pig, as well as serving their famous ribs.

All festivities will be near the pavilion area of City Park, Franz noted.

“The event goes on rain or shine,” she stressed. “Come join us.”
