Breitung Township Board seat draws five applicants
BREITUNG TOWNSHIP — The Breitung Township Board did not make a choice Monday among five people who expressed interest in its open trustee seat.
The board has until Oct. 12 to appoint someone to replace Russ Garrett, who resigned last month because he plans to move out of the township.
Two regular board meetings are scheduled before then, or the board could call a special meeting to fill the position.
The applicants are Brent Johnson, a Dickinson County Planning Commission member; Dave Johnson, a former board member, township water board member, township volunteer firefighter and school board member; Linda Lieburn, a former township employee; Ben Peterson, another former board member; and Robert Werner, who has experience on the township’s planning commission and zoning board of appeals.
The new trustee will serve until November 2018, when the seat will be up for election.
