Man, 31, seriously injured in ORV crash

IRON MOUNTAIN — A 31-year-old man was taken to a Milwaukee trauma center with serious injuries after an off-road vehicle crash Saturday in Norway Township, Michigan State Police troopers said.

The man, who was not identified, was driving a four-wheeler ORV south on the Norway Truck Trail about 7:14 p.m. when he went off the east side of the road on a curve and struck a tree, troopers said.

Integrity Care EMS took him to Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain, then Valley Med Flight transported him to Milwaukee.

Troopers believe speed and alcohol are factors in the crash. The man was wearing a helmet at the time, they added.

Norway firefighters, North Alert Ambulance and Era Chevrolet Towing also assisted troopers.
