CRYSTAL FALLS — An Iron River man accused of threatening two people with a knife in March was in Iron County Trial Court on Monday to schedule a trial date, even though his attorney indicated a plea deal is likely in the case.

Judge C. Joseph Schwedler put 46-year-old Gregory Allen Maltry’s case on the calendar for an Oct. 23 supplemental pre-trial conference and a jury trial for Nov. 21 and 22.

Maltry faces two counts of felonious assault, a four-year felony; two counts of carrying a concealed weapon, a five-year felony; and carrying a dangerous weapon with unlawful intent, a five-year felony.

Iron River Police officers went to an assault complaint March 9 at the Ace Hardware store on M-189 to find Maltry leaving the area in a vehicle, according to an IRPD press release.

When they tried to stop him, he reportedly threw the knife from his vehicle, the release states.

Officers reported seizing several guns and about 4,000 rounds of ammunition from Maltry’s vehicle.
