Celebrities to play waiters for Caring House

IRON MOUNTAIN — A spaghetti dinner served by someone whose name or face you might recognize returns Thursday to benefit the domestic violence and sexual assault center in Iron Mountain.

The annual Celebrity Waiters Dinner and Silent Auction, the Caring House’s major annual fundraiser, will be 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church, 395 Hamilton Ave. in Kingsford.

“Everyone is encouraged to come out and support victim services while enjoying an evening of good family entertainment. You will laugh until it hurts,” said Cheryl O’Neil, Caring House director.

The spaghetti meal will cost $6 per person. Children 5 and younger will be admitted free.

Along with the dinner will be skits, music, prize drawings, a 50/50 drawings and door prizes.

“Our community has been very generous again this year, donating thousands of dollars in Silent Auction items. The evening promises to put a big smile on your face. You never know what a celebrity is willing to do to earn your tip,” O’Neil said.

Currently confirmed celebrities include TV and radio personalities and area business professionals, such as: Kevin Fraker of Next Myle, Robert Sauld of Maryhill Manor, Katie Maxon of the Dickinson County Healthcare System, Morgan McAtamney of Michigan Legal Aid, Rebecca Bartelme of TV-3, John Koehler of Results Broadcasting with Brandon Sokolowski, Kingsford High School band director Ben Sherk, Henry Mann of the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services in Dickinson County, Michigan State Police Trooper Geno Basanese, Dickinson County Sheriff Scott Rutter , Officer Matthew Brouillette of Kingsford Public Safety, Iron County Prosecutor Melissa Powell, Sarah Starr of the Iron County Prosecutor’s office, Florence County District Attorney Doug Drexler, Dickinson County Chief Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Kristen Kass and Victims’ Rights Advocate Connie Larson.
