Trick-or-treat hours, other Halloween activities set

IRON MOUNTAIN — Most communities will welcome youngsters to trick-or-treat on Halloween night Tuesday.

Hours are:

— 4 to 7 p.m. in Iron Mountain, Kingsford, Quinnesec, Breitung Township, Norway, Felch Township, Niagara, Sagola Township and most Iron County communities, plus Florence and Niagara in Wisconsin.

— 4 to 6 p.m. in Hermansville and Powers.

— 5 to 7 p.m. in the city of Iron River.

— 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. in Amberg, Wis.

Pembine children will be going door-to-door from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Residents are encouraged to leave an outside light on to signify their participation in trick or treating.

Other Halloween-related events planned include:

— Haunt on the Hill, 503 Oak St. in Norway, will be open nightly, weather permitting, from 5 to 8 p.m. through Halloween. Cathy and Pat LeBeau’s unique outdoor display is free to the community and is open to all ages.

— Mansfield Township will host its annual Halloween party at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the Township Hall. Township residents, family and friends are invited to attend. Festivities include a costume parade for all ages, including adults, and games for the children.

Bring a jack-o-lantern for the pumpkin contest.

The Wicked Witch of the West will arrive with goody bags for the youngsters.

The evening will end with a Sloppy Joe supper; attendees are asked to bring treats to share.

— Calvary Lutheran Church in Quinnesec will host a trunk or treat from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday in the church parking lot. In addition to trick or treating, the event will have games, prizes, food, face painting, and more.

Prizes also will be given for attending and for best decorated trunk.

The event is free for the community.

— Get spooky at the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain’s Halloween Carnival from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday. They will have a ghost pumpkin eruption demonstration, hands-on spider web and pumpkin games and make a fun spider web craft.

Everyone is encouraged to come in costume.

Young adults can join the library for an anime showing featuring episodes of “Soul Eater” from 10 a.m. to noon. “Soul Eater” is rated PG-13.

The event is sponsored by the Friends of the Library.

— The West Iron District Library in Iron River will host a Halloween party starting at 11 a.m. Saturday. Everyone is encouraged to come in costume.

There will be a spooky photo shoot, prizes, snacks and games played.

— Area children are invited to attend the sixth annual Trunk and Treat event from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday in the employee parking lot on the emergency department side at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.

Children will walk from car to car collecting candy.

— Holyween Trunk or Treat, hosted by Bethany Lutheran Church and Grace United Methodist Church, will be 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at 130 O’Dill Drive, behind the Jake Menghini Museum in Norway.

Children can trick or treat safely in the church parking lot and vote for their favorite decorated trunk.

Other activities include pumpkin carving, games, food, and best costume and carved pumpkin contest. This free family event is open to the public.

— Trunk or Treat is set from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Grace Covenant Church, 316 Jaspen St. in Iron River. A community dinner also will be served.

— A Halloween party is set for 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Beechwood Hall. Everyone is welcome. Costume contest judging will start at 7 p.m.

There will also be games, food, trick and treats and more.

The event is hosted by the Beechwood Friendly Neighbors and Beechwood Historical Society.

The hall, 178 Beechwood Store Road, is west on U.S. 2, about 7.5 miles from Iron River.

— The Crystal Falls Lions Club will conduct a trunk or treat event from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the parking lot of the First Lutheran Church in Crystal Falls.
