District Court issues October activity report

IRON MOUNTAIN — Dickinson County District Court Judge Christopher S. Ninomiya has issued his activity report for the month of October.

New criminal cases filed included 12 felonies, 28 misdemeanors, and five operating while intoxicated misdemeanors.

New civil cases filed included 29 general civil cases, 27 small claims cases, and eight landlord-tenant cases.

New traffic cases filed included 28 misdemeanors and 172 civil infractions.

There were 13 non-traffic civil infractions.

Criminal dispositions included five guilty pleas to felonies reduced to misdemeanors, 13 felony preliminary examinations — one of which was bound over to circuit court and 12 of which were waived over to circuit court, five felony pleas accepted in district court, 26 misdemeanors, and nine operating while intoxicated misdemeanors.

Civil dispositions included 33 general civil cases, 27 small claims cases, and seven landlord-tenant cases.

Traffic dispositions included 32 misdemeanors and 168 civil infractions.

There were seven non-traffic civil infractions.

In other activity, there were 11 court trials, four probation violations, one drug-sobriety court referral, nine alcohol highway safety school referrals, four shoplifters’ counseling program referrals, seven sheriff’s work van referrals, six alcohol counseling referrals, 20 showcause hearings, and five marriage ceremonies.

Funds turned over to Dickinson County Treasurer Lorna Carey totaled $85,207.19. The court trust was $7,612.25.
