‘Love Lights’ tradition continues at Dickinson Memorial Hospital
IRON MOUNTAIN – The Dickinson County Hospital Foundation invites the community to participate in its 31st annual Love Lights tradition. The event, which celebrates the beginning of the holiday season, includes a special tree lighting ceremony on Monday, Dec. 4, at 5:30 p.m. to showcase the Love Lights that are purchased to honor and remember those we love.
“When we started this event over 30 years ago, we were overwhelmed with the stories behind the purchase of lights,” said Kris Leonard, current DCH Foundation board member and an original organizer of the first Love Lights event, which was coordinated by the Dickinson Memorial Hospital League.
“Families and loved ones were so pleased to have a special way to honor or remember the people they loved,” Leonard said. “We are thrilled to see this wonderful tradition has carried on over the years, offering the community a way to share their love during the holiday season.”
In addition to the traditional tree lighting ceremony and posting of names, a charm tree will be displayed in the hospital lobby throughout the holiday season. The names and families of those honored and remembered will be etched onto a small charm and displayed on the tree — a lasting tribute to those we love.
Families and loved ones are invited to take the charms home during the tree lighting ceremony or at any time during the holidays.
