FNB donates turkeys to Salvation Army

First National Bank employees recently donated more than 450 pounds of turkey to the Salvation Army for their annual holiday turkey drive. The employees were able to raise more than $4,500 by selling their Anniversary Cookbook. IRON MOUNTAIN — In celebration of their 130th anniversary, the employees of First National Bank & Trust gathered a collection of approximately 150 sought after favorite recipes from past and present employees and created an Anniversary Cookbook. Books were then sold at each of their seven locations for $10 each.

The employees raised more than $4,500, which will be distributed to food pantries within each community their employees support.

One of the benefactors of this fund raising project is the Salvation Army.

The group was able to purchase more than 450 pounds of turkey for the Salvation Army’s Thanksgiving turkey drive.

According to Tara Blagec, director of the local office, the Salvation Army coordinates with other local non-profit food pantries to feed more than 120 “extreme need” families in the area each year.

Applications for assistance can be picked up at the Salvation Army office located at 145 Roseland Ave. in Kingsford and are being accepted through Dec. 14 for Christmas.

The Salvation Army also has an “Angel Tree.”  Donors who want to adopt a person or family for Christmas can contact their office at 906-779-5717.

If you would like to help the Salvation Army, non-perishable food donations can be dropped off at their office.

For more information on the Salvation Army or their assistance programs, Blagec can be reached at 906-779-5717 from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 9 a.m. to noon Fridays.
