IRON MOUNTAIN — The Iron Mountain Mountaineers played the St. Ignace Saints in the first round of High School Bowl, broadcast Dec. 2 on Public TV 13, and won by a score of 280-40. Forty schools from the Upper Peninsula and northern Wisconsin participate in the High School Bowl tournament, now in its 40th year.
Iron Mountain advanced to the second round and will play Wakefield in Game 24, scheduled to air Feb. 3.
Running from November through the championship game in April, the High School Bowl series airs on Public TV 13 at 8 p.m. Eastern time Saturdays and at noon Eastern on Mondays.
The Norway Knights played the Bessemer Speedboys in the first round of High School Bowl, broadcast Nov. 18 on Public TV 13, and were defeated by a score of 290-20.
