Reimagine the Dickinson County Library Reading Room: This view shows the central area of the Reading Room with shelves on casters rolled out of the way for a presentation. After the program, the shelves would be rolled back to the center. The ceiling installations will provide a reduction in the noise that carries from programs and, while not pictured, the design also includes a new small meeting room that will be perfect for small group or individual quiet work space. Better lighting and more seating options, as well as collections that are easier to browse, are visible throughout. Donate by Dec. 31 to help make this vision a reality. The library is competing for a Public Spaces, Community Places grant from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation. These grants are matching grants awarded only if the library reaches its goal of $20,000 in donations. Though the goal has been reached, the library will continue to accept donations through the end of the year Sunday. Visit for more information.
