Reimagine the Dickinson County Library Reading Room: This view is from standing at the circulation desk looking into the Reading Room. The new service desk, shown at right, would allow staff to more easily assist patrons with computer help and reference questions, as well as provide backup so someone always is available to help. In addition to better service, this design provides more accessible collections that are easier to browse. Better lighting and more seating options, both main priorities in the redesign plans, are visible throughout. The public is asked to donate by Dec. 31 to make this vision a reality. The library is competing for a Public Spaces, Community Places grant from the Michigan Economic Development Corp. These grants are matching grants awarded only if the library reaches its $20,000 goal in donations. For more information on the library’s plans, go online to www.patronicity.
