Dog left shot, dumped in rural Iron County

AN IRON RIVER animal hospital treated this dog after it was found shot and abandoned.

IRON MOUNTAIN — Iron Mountain Michigan State Police troopers are looking for whoever shot and abandoned a pit bull-type dog early Thursday in Iron County’s Mansfield Township.

The black dog with a white muzzle, thought to be about 2 years old, was treated for its wounds Thursday at Four Seasons Animal Hospital in Iron River, troopers said, but they didn’t have an update on its condition this morning.

It had been left in the area of Old 69 Road and M-69 after being shot. It had other injuries as well, troopers said.
