Marquette fire investigation continues
MARQUETTE — The cause of a fatal residential fire where two people were found dead inside a Marquette home Monday evening is still under investigation, officials said Friday.
Krista Urbanc, 22, of Norway, and Zachary Johnson, 23, of Marquette, were found inside the home at 1026 Lincoln Ave. after emergency crews responded to a fire at the residence about 11:35 p.m., according to the Marquette Police Department.
An administrative warrant was obtained Tuesday to investigate the structure.
The cause of fire and death is still under investigation, Michigan State Police Fire Investigator Dale Hillier said.
The city website lists the structure as a rental owned by Michael and Lynn Johnson. It was inspected and determined to be in compliance with city ordinances in October 2016, according to the website.
However, the website also shows that an initial structure inspection occurred in September 2016 and that the home only partially complied with ordinances.
