Steinbrecher leads North Dickinson board

FELCH — The hierarchy of the North Dickinson County School Board remained unchanged Monday.

Carl Steinbrecher will continue as board president, with Lynn Oman as vice president, Marsha Hord as secretary and Jacquelen Schemmel as treasurer.

Oman and trustee Larry Rusch will be up for re-election on Nov. 6. They must file nominating petitions by 4 p.m. July 24 if they plan to be on the ballot.

In other business, the board:

— Approved the senior trip for 2018 that will leave at midnight May 24 for Cedar Point, Ohio, where the group will rent a house while visiting the NFL Hall of Fame in Canton, then Put-In-Bay on South Bass Island in Lake Erie before shifting to Kalahari Resort in Sandusky. They will attend a Detroit Tigers game at Comerica Park on May 28 before returning to North Dickinson.

The senior class has $6,452 in its account for the estimated $12,221 trip and already has paid $4,620.91. They expect to draw about $3,500 in profit from a pasty sale set for around Easter. Any extra money would be used for meals, senior class members said.

— Decided to retain Thrun Law Firm of East Lansing as the district’s legal counsel, as it has for several years.
