ISD accepting early childhood education program applications
KINGSFORD – The Dickinson-Iron Intermediate School District Department of Early Childhood Education is accepting Early Head Start, Head Start and Great Start Readiness program applications for the 2018-2019 school year.
Pregnant mothers and children ages birth to 3 may be eligible for the Early Head Start program. Children ages 3 and 4 may be eligible to attend the Head Start or Great Start Readiness pre-school programs.
The programs are free to families who qualify and children are not required to be potty trained prior to enrollment. Families with children with a disability are encouraged to apply.
Research indicates that children who are provided with a high-quality preschool experience show significant developmental growth when compared to children from the same backgrounds who did not attend a preschool program. The preschool programs offered through the Intermediate School District have recently been determined to be of the highest quality through the state childcare quality rating system, Great Start to Quality.
Early Head Start, Head Start and Great Start Readiness are comprehensive programs that involve the family in the development of the child. The curriculum is designed to address all aspects of the child’s development and lesson plans are created to meet the child’s school readiness goals.
Early Childhood Centers are located in Norway, the Bates Early Childhood Center in Iron County, North Dickinson and Kingsford.
If you have any questions or would like to submit an application, please call the Dickinson-Iron Intermediate School District-Department of Early Childhood Education at 906-779-2695 or visit www.diisd.org.
