Marquette County crash kills Norway teen

NEGAUNEE — A Norway teen was killed Tuesday morning in a two-vehicle crash in Marquette County’s Sands Township, troopers from the Negaunee Michigan State Police post said.

Benjamin Johnson was a front-seat passenger in a 2005 Mercury Montego that was headed south on M-553 near Olsen Road about 8 a.m. when 18-year-old driver Marcus Trujillo of Fennville, Mich., lost control of the vehicle, crossed the center line and collided head-on with a northbound 2007 Chrysler Town and County driven by 41-year-old Peter Anderson of Gwinn, troopers said.

Johnson, 18, was pronounced dead at the crash site. All others involved were taken to U.P. Health Systems-Marquette for treatment, troopers said.

The accident remains under investigation. Forsyth Township Fire and EMS, Sands Township Fire and EMS, Marquette County Rescue Unit 131, and the Marquette County Sheriff’s Department assisted troopers.
