Charges issued after Breitung meth bust

IRON MOUNTAIN — A man faces felony charges after police found an active methamphetamine lab in his Breitung Township apartment last week.

Brian Lee Krause, 41, is accused of delivery or manufacture of methamphetamine and operating or maintaining a methamphetamine laboratory near specified places, both 20-year felonies, as well as a habitual offender-fourth status, which increases the maximum penalties to life.

Krause will return to Dickinson County District Court for a probable cause conference March 28 and a preliminary examination April 4.

Krause was arrested March 14 on a parole violation, according to the criminal complaint.

When his parole agent and Dickinson County Sheriff’s Department personnel subsequently searched his apartment at N3976 U.S. 2, they found an active methamphetamine lab in a closet, sheriff’s office officials said.

The Dickinson-Iron District Health Department condemned the apartment where the lab was found but allowed the other apartments to remain open at this time, officials said.
