KHS alumnus Kathleen Novickis establishes new scholarship

Jerry and Kathleen Novickis

KINGSFORD — Kingsford High School alumnus Kathleen Temple Novickis has created a scholarship to honor her passion and her commitment to helping younger generations fulfill their dream of a post-secondary education.

Novickis is a 1977 graduate of Kingsford High School and is proud to be an alumnus of KHS. After graduating from KHS, she went on to have a successful career with Schreiber Foods in Green Bay, Wis., and she currently serves as president of Accurate Components LLC, an international manufacturing company in Green Bay.

During high school, Novickis was a student that was actively involved in the vocal music program, as well as having had the opportunity to take advantage of the training she received while a student in the Dickinson-Iron Technical Education Center’s steno- clerical/office procedures program.

The sincere and heartfelt passion that she has for Kingsford High School, and the educational experiences that she took with her into the world of work, drive the interest that she has in giving back to upcoming KHS graduates to fulfill their dream of a post-secondary education.

The Novickis scholarship seeks applicants that will be furthering their education in the fields of business or music, or applicants that will actively participate in a musical performance group/ensemble throughout their college education. Important factors also taken into consideration for this scholarship is for applicants to have been involved in community service activities, extracurricular activities, as well as the ability to show and speak to their leadership skills. The Kathleen Temple Novickis Scholarship will first be awarded to a Kingsford High School graduate in the Class of 2018.

In addition to the alumni scholarship developed by Kathleen to recognize KHS seniors, she and her husband, Jerry, have graciously made a donation to establish a general scholarship at Kingsford High School.

The Board of Education of Breitung Township Schools and the administration of Kingsford High School are pleased to accept the opportunity to coordinate such a meaningful scholarship for Novickis and the graduates of Kingsford High School.

Individuals interested in developing a scholarship, or donating to the KHS General Scholarship Fund, can contact Rita Edberg, scholarship coordinator/KHS, or Lyle Smithson, principal, 431 Hamilton Ave. Kingsford, MI 49802 or by calling 906-779-2670, ext.5, for more information.
